I appreciate the concern of the newly elected Christian exco members that Aware should not be pro-gay or promote a homosexual lifestyle…

Since the members are Christians from the same church, they should use a religious platform to deal with this issue and not invade a civil society that is meant to be non-sectarian and secular.

Instead, these women joined AWARE in the few months before the AGM and then voted their representatives onto the Executive Committee – without giving any indication that they were acting together. They continued with this stance until Thursday when they finally told the truth.

This cannot be the way forward for Singapore. We cannot have people acting like moral vigilantes running around and taking over established organisations.

Too many questions left unanswered

How often have you heard of a secular society that prided itself on having a multiracial, multi-religious leadership, electing a new leadership utterly lacking in diversity? It happened at Aware and, in the absence of better information from the new people, a Google search turned up links to strong anti-homosexual views expressed by some of them. 

Bad Behavior has blocked 366 access attempts in the last 7 days.
