As I read about the incident, I was reminded of how my own alma mater, the University of Chicago, counts an annual naked run in broad daylight as one of its proudest traditions.
During the Polar Bear Run, which takes place in the dead of winter, male and female students strip down to their underwear or birthday suits and run around the main quadrangle, with schoolmates, professors and passers-by cheering them on.

The Polar Bear Run: To mark the annual tradition, hundreds of scantily clad — and completely unclad — Chicago students will dash together across the University’s Main Quadrangle, located at the intersection of University Avenue and 58th Street. The run will begin around 3:30 p.m. and will be followed by a celebratory bonfire.
